This June, IDC students are traveling to Kenya to assist Peter and his team at Swahiba Ministries. Swahiba serves young people in the slums of Nairobi by meeting physical and spiritual needs through a variety of gospel-centered programs. Our primary goal is to serve those who are actively living out James 1:27 in their community every day. Come with a heart eager to encourage your global brothers and sisters and postured to learn from their experience in ministry! Each day we will help the Swahiba Staff with their behind-the-scenes ministry preparation and then join their work in the slums to distribute food baskets to widows, lead discipleship classes, and visit children's homes. We will encourage the families of students who have joined Swahiba's discipleship programs, praying for opportunities to share the hope of the gospel with them. We will also help the staff give out locally-sourced shoes to needy children. This trip will be a great opportunity to witness first-hand how God is using his people to care for the vulnerable and to join the efforts of the global church in His mission!
Central to 127's mission is the belief that God is already at work restoring hope around the world through godly men and women in ways that display how the gospel redeems entire communities. For more information about Swahiba, explore their website!
